The Christmas tree is a popular symbol of the holiday season.  It is believed that Christmas trees began as a German tradition, and they became increasingly popular in England and abroad during the Victorian era.  Queen Victoria was married to Albert, from Germany, and in 1848, an image of the Royal Family around a Christmas tree was published.  This helped to popularize the tree.
