Christmas is often a time for enjoying food and baking up a storm!  A popular baked treat is gingerbread.  Wonder how this cookie became so closely associated with Christmas time?

Gingerbread originated in medieval Europe when ginger was a popular spice.  In German-speaking lands, gingerbread which were shaped and decorated were highlighted at autumn fairs and Christmas markets, and it likely from this German tradition that the gingerbread has lasted as a Christmas treat!
