The Christmas Frolic, a gathering of the community at the local Inn or hotel. Families would travel in their ox-drawn sleighs, which were heated by hot rocks, straw and robes to celebrate the Christmas season together. At the Christmas frolic the women would share their holiday specials with one another and the men would play checkers in the tavern or have fun in the meeting room with the younger adults. Children would normally play games like Blind Man’s Bluff or Pop goes the Weasel. Dancing was also very popular among the pioneers while they celebrated the festive season.
