Advent

This is the time in which Christians prepare of the coming and birth of Christ. It is a time in which people wait in joyful excitement; during this time people prepare for Christmas in many ways. People traditionally spend this time of year doing many charitable deeds, going to church, confessing sins, spending time with friends and family, and overall bringing great cheer to all.

During the time of waiting, it is common for a Christian household to set up a ‘nativity scene,’ a display of the stable that Jesus was born in with figurines of Mary, Joseph, the three shepherds, the three wise men and of course baby Jesus. The manger is left empty until Christmas; at this point the Jesus figurine is placed in it to show that Christ has come at last.
